5 Activity Ideas for Your Children’s Birthday Party
Planning a birthday party for your child and their friends needn’t be stressful! Simple ideas are often the best, and today we’re sharing some of our favourite easy kids’ party ideas to help you plan a celebration your little one and their friends will be talking about for weeks afterwards.
1. Dressing up
Kids love dressing up, and a great way to get the party started is to get them donning some fun costumes. Offer them a selection of dressing up outfits for them to try, such as a butterfly, Amethyst Queen, musketeer or pirate. If your budget is more limited, you could instead provide them with a few simpler props, such as a fabric pirate hat or princess crown – children are great at using their imagination to fill in the blanks.
2. Party games
No kids’ party would be complete without party games, so plan for a selection of traditional favourites, such as pass the parcel, musical chairs and ‘pin the tail on the donkey’. Don’t forget to stock up on some prizes for the lucky winners; how about an adorable dinosaur toy or cowboy ragdoll?
3. Treasure hunt
A treasure hunt is a great way to keep the kids occupied, and it’s easy to organise even if you don’t have much time to dream up imaginative clues. If you’re short on time and can’t plan anything too elaborate, take inspiration from an Easter egg hunt and hide sweets or some other objects around the house and/or garden. The child who manages to find the most wins – and our MeToo dolls make great prizes for both girls and boys.
4. Story time
If things are getting a bit raucous, why not calm them down by telling them a story? Grab a book from the bookshelf and get them to sit in a circle while you regale them with a tale or two. Keep them comfortable by spreading some floor quilts on the ground for them to sit on.
5. Crown the birthday king or queen
Make the birthday girl or boy feel extra special by holding a birthday coronation ceremony complete with a birthday crown. We love this silver and gold one, or this gorgeous silver, pink and lavender one.
